Heroes – Our Life-Long Role Models

Heroes are the people that we aspire to be,
Whether you want to be a scientist, an author or just sing in glee.
There’s always someone who’s done something great,
No matter if it’s someone famous that you can never meet or simply just your mate!

We always have a famous person that we look up to,
The motivation we use to push us to prepare for what we want to do.
They are popular, and normally have the career of some sort, whatever you want to be,
And it is only their greatness, not the inside, and their personality that you can see.

But then you can have a small hero, and this really isn’t bad,
It could be your grandparents, or even your mum or dad.
They are loving and caring, and you know them inside out,
You know that they are a true inspiration without a doubt!

Everyone has a different hero, and some even have more than one,
And they are mainly for the things they have done.
You love what you have seen about them and what they do,
But you will always be inspired by the people who are closest and dearest to you…

Fathers – A daughter’s first love, a son’s first hero

A father is the male in the family, that takes control over everything;
Helping with decisions of the house, mother the Queen, him the King
This figure is a role model that children seem to follow and copy,
Although they seem mean on the outside, they are always good on the inside, as sweet as toffee!

They are not always biological, but you know they always care,
They are ready to help you, to hold you, and always be there.
They’re strict, but soft as well, especially when we are growing up,
They make sure we behave, but sometimes treat us like we are grownups!

When we get older, around the teenage stage,
We start to drift from them when we get older in age,
Girls might find it harder to talk to them about private things, that’s what mums are for,
But boys don’t run out of things to talk about with their dads, it’s never a bore!

Dads are always the kindest, giving us secret treats,
Talking to us and telling us funny jokes as we walk with them down the streets.
We have a mummy’s boy, but also a daddy’s girl,
And, to be honest, that position for both the girl and the dad is always more swell.

Our dads are the only men in our lives that can never let us down,
Even though they can make us angry, or make us frown,
He’s a daughter’s first love, and a son’s first hero,
And they will always impact our lives way more than they will ever know…

Money – A Necessity Of Life

Money is an item that can buy us things that help u live our lives;
Whether it is food, clothes or a ring for the brand new wife.
It can be gained one second, and lost so easily the next;
Whether it is the cash that is in your bank, or that priceless cheque.

Money can be exchanged so you can change it and spend it around the world;
And we find out the good and bad things about money as problems begin to unfurl.
It helps us provides for our families and ourselves;
And pay for jobs to be done like getting a car washed or giving your house a few amends.

Although money can help us, it can also cause stress and greed;
Whether you get too much and are careless or you are in debt and in desperate need.
You can get buried in bills with careless spending or not having enough money;
Meaning you couldn’t be very responsible, or just very unlucky!

Money is a necessity of life that we all need, no matter who we are;
Whether it is to spend it on a mortgage or simply spending at a snack bar.
Money can be a solution or a problem, depending on your life situation,
Although it is nice to spend a bit of extra money for your summer vacation!

Toys – Our Fictional Friends

Toys are objects that we played with as children;
Whether we were playing with Barbies or making a Lego building.
We would talk to them, take care of them, and always had fun;
But we were always excited to move on to that new Nerf gun!

As babies we have those pretend phones or that plastic talking robot;
Although they could often end up getting destroyed or completely covered in snot!
They comforted us when we couldn’t talk or understand life quite yet,
Although when we get a new one, it is the old one we can never forget!

Girls have their dolls, and would style their hair and change their dresses,
And get our new pretend iPad in which we used to send our parents a message!
As a girl you get your first cooking set, and make your own ‘cupcakes’,
Although there would always be some kind of funny, minor mistake!

Boys have their water guns, shooting water bullets all day long,
Or have a court table and play Tennis and Ping-Pong.
They play with Lego Chima and do role plays with the men,
And although you’ve played it lots of times, you always want to do it again and again!

Adults even have their own toys, an Xbox or a PlayStation;
Loving the video games and the everlasting sensation.
Playing on the Wii, and having fun playing imaginary sports,
Although we all know it is much healthier to play on actual sports’ courts!

Books – A whole new world in your hands

Books can take you to a whole new adventure, a whole new place,
Whether it’s a fairy-tale land or the middle of a mystery case.
You get interested and can’t find yourself to put it down or stop;
And you start to get excited about getting another one in the bookshop.

You have non-fiction books, the ones with the truth and with facts.
Filled with topics such as the deadliest animals or ancient artefacts.
You can use them for projects, or to find out key information;
Although it’s obvious that fiction books are better for our imagination!

Fiction books take us to a new place, a place that can’t be real;
Stories that can make us gasp, laugh, cry, smile and squeal!
This genre is often for entertainment, and just for a bit of fun,
A lovely way to relax once all your hard work is done!

Then we have the autobiographies, the books about you!
Where we see the lives of others and see what they went through.
And biographies that are written not by you, but by another person,
Although with these we can never be sure what is written is absolutely certain.

Finally there are those books that tell a story a different way,
The way that can control your feelings depending on what it tries to say.
These are poems and songs, the unique way to tell a story;
Whether it is funny, sad or just simply extremely gory!

Food and Drink – A Universal Need

Food is the substance that we all like to eat;
Varying from foods like vegetables to food like meat.
We have people who eat a lot, and people who don’t bother;
But it helps us get taller, lets our bones grow stronger.

We have the sweet food, that we all know isn’t healthy for our bodies,
The food we always want to get, even though it may be naughty!
They taste delicious, the taste melting on our tongues;
The delicious icing of cakes, the jam on the buns!

But we also have healthy food: fruit, vegetables and fish,
Although they aren’t as nice as a bar of chocolate or a sweet dish!
They help our bodies to develop, our bodies to grow,
Help us to walk and run, speak, think properly, catch and throw.

We have our fizzy drinks, and our squash and juice;
As good looking as the taste that is produced!
In moderate portions they could be healthy, or simply filled with sugar,
Though it is our crazy side that it may trigger!

But, then we have the healthy ones, water or even a yoghurt drink;
They may not taste the best, or have flavour, but they are better than we think!
They help give us strength, and quench our thirst,
But normally we like to have a nice meal first!

Childhood- When ignorance is bliss

Childhood is the basic start in life,
When we don’t have a trouble, or face any strife.
We grow and learn and develop into young adults;
But at this stage we don’t even have the sense of our own impulse!

We come out of the womb and cry to our mothers,
Not caring about disturbing and bothering others.
You cannot think for yourself, cannot fend for yourself,
But you can ensure that nothing from you will be withheld.

Then we grow into a toddler, and take our first steps,
And start to use our hands to hold objects.
We say our first words, and our life has just begun,
As we step into the school life, learning one plus one!

We merge into a child, and begin to know Yes and No,
And we start to develop and begin to grow,
We know how to use our brain, and how to think,
Knowing our numbers and alphabets, the difference between blue and pink.

Then we turn, 11, and are about to enter secondary school,
And you begin to know yourself, and come to know what’s cool.
You grow out of the phase of a child, growing in wisdom;
But now adulthood is a whole new business!

SOCIAL MEDIA- The Latest Fad

Social media helps us talk with family and friends
We are able to chat for hours on end
There’s really no need to be side to side
As we can chat to them on different devices even by the bedside

FACEBOOK, the king of all the Medias
Where you can have a joke or be serious
Post pictures or videos, then click on like, love or poke
And talk to long lost friends and crack many jokes!

YOUTUBE, where you watch your favourite people
Videos about weird situations, or even how to make treacle
You can see videos that make you laugh or cry
Or view the latest products that you could buy

TWITTER, where you can make comments and say what you think
And get other comments as quick as a blink
You hear the views of others and see what they say
But you may not think in the same way!

SNAPCHAT, where you can update your friends on what’s going on
Whether you’re getting you hair done or just having fun
You can chat with friends and make them smile
And tell them to check your pictures and profile

INSTAGRAM, a place to share pictures and videos
And look at other posts, whether beautiful or hideous
You can talk to friends and catch up with the latest gossip
And talk about which celebrity is the most awesome

So, social media can help communicate with loved ones
And talk about anything and anyone
Although this is a positive aspect of life on a screen
It is sometimes not as good as it may seem…

Prayer – Conversing With God

Prayer is the way to talk to God
Watch how he will answer you, leaving you awed
He can make you wait for a while until you get it
All you have to do is have faith, and not quit

Prayer is a huge advantage to everyone who knows about it
A request in which you want God to commit
It can be answered in an instant, and makes you very blessed
And amaze your friends, leaving them shocked and impressed

Prayer is a cry unto Him when help is needed
And you are guaranteed you will not be unheeded
You will be helped with your powerful words
Cry “Oh help me Lord!” and you will be served

A method used to bless the ones you care about
And know He will support you, without a doubt
Pray to Him to help you fulfil your destiny
And make your life easy, so you can smile pleasantly

So, go on, try the way of prayer, and see what it will do
And how God will hear you, and instantly help you
He will aid you in your time of need, or when you’re upset
And soon you will see you are seen as a big threat…

Success – Winner Takes All

Success is the feeling of accomplishment or greatness
Whether no-one knows or you become famous
You know you did well, and that’s all that matters
And after this you know your confidence can’t be shattered

Whether it’s coming up with a new invention
Or simply by an action that attracts a lot of attention
You could get rich and famous where everyone knows your name
And see your name appear in the Hall of Fame!

It could be making someone happy and cheering them up
Seeing their faces light up like an excited new pup!
You put on their faces a wide bright smile
Grinning from ear to ear, you see it stretch on for a mile

Success could be getting good grades in class, or achieving your best
And you see that you have done better than all the rest!
You know you have exceeded your target, knowing you are the first,
No-one can bring you down, not even to your worst!

Now you’ve had a taste of success, you don’t want it to stop
So that the amazing buzz it gives doesn’t drop
It brings out your best ability and your amazing skills
And sometimes, even when you think about it, you get the chills!
